Happy Valentines Day!

This was our first valentines day together 2 years ago.

This year we celebrated valentines day early because Andrew left for deployment yesterday.
This time it lasted a whole 24 hours!

We cooked together as I promised to do here
and we made lobster ravioli again!
Its our all time favorite.
We also enjoyed our freshly made pasta with a little bit of blackberry wine it was delish!

Later that night, things got interesting
we played poker

Mind you we don't play much poker but my good friend M got me into it.
What do you use if you don't have poker chips?
and don't have any loose change around because its all wrapped up?

we played with....

Reese's Pieces!

The orange were 5
the brown were 10
and yellow was 15

Andrew won the first game and I won the last one.\

The next day
My ski collection became complete!

I now have skis, bindings, poles, and boots
all thanks to my love!

yippee for no more spending $300 every ski trip on rentals

We then went to the mall and every year Andrew has surprised me with a heart necklace

This year I wanted something different, a girl can only have so much jewelry... right?

One of my dreams has always been for my lover to go to Victoria secrets and pick out something for me, something they like.

I wanted new panties so I told my love to pick some one that he likes and that's what he did.

I think 5 new pairs of panties that I knew he likes is more practical then another necklace right?

What's a gift you like to get on valentines day?

Sunday Funday!

The other day we joined everyone else in the new craze!
Well it just seems like so many of my blogger friends are doing it
We became green!
Well My eyes are already green
as seen here

But anyway... on to my point....
We made
the green smoothie!

Yess its becoming that popular that it needs the word THE  before it to make it feel important.

The green smoothie includes spinach leaves, almond milk, banana, and flax seeds, and ice

and wah lah!

Belive me people
It looks gross but its yummy and so healthy for you!

In other news of the boomer house hold!

Its been almost a year since we have adopted Miss Purgy Puppy!

We couldn't tell is she was a chocolate lab or a black lab when we got her

Isnt it so cute seeing her grow up right in front of your eyes?
Well maybe only for me since I am her mommy.

Miss purgy is loving the igloo that we built for her

I was a little too scared to go in the igloo because my mother scared me as a child and said never go in or near one because I will die!
Well maybe not that harsh but she said the snow will collapse on me and I will die!

It must have been a little nicer then that but whatever she said it suck in my head and I got pretty claustrophobic in there.

Well enjoy your long weekend if you get to rest on Monday!

This weekend has been filled with and will be filled with again tonight with many games of

Lobster Ravioli

Cooking with your partner...
sounds impossible to do?
Not for us!
luckily we are a great team and I'm glad he was around because this was a 4 hands project.

Who knew to make the pasta was just flour and eggs?

And we used our snazzy new pasta "maker" which makes it nice and smooth to make raviolis.

These babies were filled with fresh lobster meat, parsley, and parm cheese
next time we are doing ricotta cheese for the thicker wetter texture.

For the sauce I used browned butter sauce, And I now know that you skim off the foam from the butter and only use what is underneath for the brown sauce. Lucky for me I got to eat the foamy yummy goodness. I also saved it to sprinkle on our asparagus.

You wanna know the awesome thing about letting your man to help in the kitchen?
Hes been doing the dishes!
3 times a day!!!!

*thank you god for such an amazing man!*

And thank you for having him in my dreams last night when I dreamed that I said "screw a wedding this summer!... lets just elope to the mountains in Colorado!"

I have so many stories to tell from the past few days but so little time... therefor waiting must happen on your part!

Food and Awards!

Yesterday morning I wanted something different for breakfast, a break from the normal cereal.
and we only  have healthy cereal in this house
So I wanted something different and sweet

I made myself a healthy delicious smoothie!

Blueberry Soy Smoothie

1 cup of silk soy milk in vanilla
the vanilla milk adds the sweetness

1 cup of frozen blueberries
when i froze mine this summer
I froze them with some splenda for a sweet treat

1/2 cup of strawberries
mine were not cut before I froze them so I guesstimated

and there you go! Blend it up baby!

But wait theres more!

I had a crazy idea that I would learn to cook from my french cooking from Julia Child's
BUT I could only use what I had in my kitchen.
This was hard because I don't have much since the lover is away and I don't cook when he is gone.
The only think I had that the book asked for was chicken and butter
Perfect! I love both... well maybe butter a little too much

Chicken Breasts Sauteed in Butter
[Supremes de Volaille a Brun]

Here the chicken breasts are lightly dusted with flour and are sauteed in clarified butter. Ordinary butter will burn and form black specks on the supremes (chicken breasts). Clarified butter may be heated to a higher temperature before burning.

Pound the thicker end of each breast lightly to make them more even from end to end.

4 supremes (boned breasts fro two fryers) - I only used two
1/4 tsp salt
big pinch of pepper
1 cup flour spread on an 8" plate

Just before sauteing, sprinkle the supremes with salt and pepper, roll them in the flour, and shake off the excess flour.

8" skillet
6 - 8 tbsp clarified butter
hot platter

Clarified Butter: When ordinary butter is heated until it liquifies, a milky residue sinks to the bottom of the saucepan. The clear yellow liquid above it is clarified. The milky particles are the ones that burn first, so removing them allows the clarified butter to be heated to a higher temperature. To clarify, cut butter into pieces and place it in a saucepan over moderate heat.

When the butter has melted, skim off the foam, and strain the clear yellow liquid into a bowl, leaving the milky residue in the bottom of the pan.

FYI I ate the milky foam top, ooo so yummy but so bad for you!

Pour clarified butter into skillet to a depth of about 1/16". Set over moderately high heat. When the butter begins to deepen in color very slightly, put in the supremes.

Regulate heat so butter is always hot but does not turn more than a deep yellow. After 3 minutes, turn the supremes and saute on the other side.

In two minutes, press tops of the supremes with your finger. As soon as they are springy to the touch, they are done. Remove to a hot platter leaving butter in skillet. I'm always concerned about chicken not cooking all the way, so this was a nice trick to learn! Julia says that to test for doneness, follow the guidelines by pressing gently with your finger:

soft, yields slightly to touch - not quite done
springs backs with gentle resilience - done
no springiness - overcooked

Brown Butter Sauce

4 tbsp clarified butter
3 tbsp minced parsley
1 tbsp lemon juice

Add the 4 tablespoons of additional clarified butter to the skillet and set over moderately high heat until the butter has turned a very light golden brown (a minute or two). Immediately remove from heat, stir in parsley and lemon juice, and taste for seasoning.

Pour over the supremes and serve.

It would have taken me forever to type it out and I found someone who did it all better then me

So I took the typing and pics from this lovely lady

Its Time for a New Years revolution!

I totally meant resolution but that is how I used to say it so I like to celebrate my weird wordings sometimes
Just like how I used to say brefast... yeah that's breakfast But that's how it would just roll off my tongue and I miss it sometimes so once in a while I will say it wrong just because I like that word.

Anyway
new year - new "plan"

My plan for this new year is for me and my lover.
To share the kitchen more with him.
I have to allow him into the kitchen at lest once a week

I know usually goals with the kitchen include something like ( cook more for my lover )
Not me... my problem is that maybe because I am an only child or just trying to be a good lover...
I don't "share" the kitchen.

Every night I make dinner for Andrew
He asks if I need help and I will quickly say nope!

He had expressed his need to be in the kitchen more.

we used to cook together ( and we do a great job at it! )
but that was at his first house that I didn't feel comfortable using the kitchen without him there because he had roommates and all.

But now that we have had two houses that I have been able to call 'home'
I have taken over that part of the house.

I did it because I Love to cook and to make my lover happy.
I am old school in some ways and I believe that the woman does all the cooking and cleaning.
I also enjoy surprising him when it is time to sit at the dinner table
and I like to keep it a secret how I make my special food... is that wrong?

So my best Friend... my love... my soul mate has asked for me to "stop being such a perfect housewife and share the kitchen"

I know... this must be every girls dream having the man step in to help

But I feel I wont be doing my "duty"

But
Andrew made a great point, If we can share a kitchen together like we used to and we are able to get along we would take advantage of it.

He is right, I mean what other couple do you know that can both share the stop top at the same time!

I know... unheard of, but seriously, we do a great job when we do anything together
we make a great team, even when I do let him in the kitchen.
We are such a great team that we don't even need to speak. We just know what each other need and what our roles are in the kitchen.

Such as... I like when he does the meat part... that's "manly"... right?

....SO....

We will be bringing our own ideas into the kitchen this year of 2011

Our first meal to make together is in 10 days when he comes home from deployment.

we will be making .... get ready for this.....

fresh lobster and home made raviolis!

Yes we got a pasta maker for Christmas and we are going to make our own pasta "dough" or whatever it is and use the 3lbs of lobster meat that my mom got from the restaurant.

sounds delish? i know...

Now if only I didn't have to wait till the 12th to start our new goal

This will be us
