It's meant to be

Since spring is coming well Im hoping it is...
I decided to go with a warmer hair color

The thing with that is... warm A.K.A
brings out your natural red

The older I am getting the redder my hair gets and whatever color I do the red always finds a way to show up.

So what am I going to do this this around?

Accept the fact that I am an Irish red head and hold my red head proud!

Confession

Hey babe?
Eh.. think its about time to take down the Christmas tree?

Cant believe that a dead tree is still alive in our house!

Now if only I had that luck with live plants in the house!

And I'm too lazy to take the ornaments down and wrap them up.

Today or maybe yesterday we started..... Boot camp for boot camp

That's right bloggers... Cross your fingers, your toes, and you eyes!
Pray it all goes well this Fall

And cross your fingers for a little shopping trip Monday goes well for something that I will carry proudly for the rest of my life!

Sunday Funday!

The other day we joined everyone else in the new craze!
Well it just seems like so many of my blogger friends are doing it
We became green!
Well My eyes are already green
as seen here

But anyway... on to my point....
We made
the green smoothie!

Yess its becoming that popular that it needs the word THE  before it to make it feel important.

The green smoothie includes spinach leaves, almond milk, banana, and flax seeds, and ice

and wah lah!

Belive me people
It looks gross but its yummy and so healthy for you!

In other news of the boomer house hold!

Its been almost a year since we have adopted Miss Purgy Puppy!

We couldn't tell is she was a chocolate lab or a black lab when we got her

Isnt it so cute seeing her grow up right in front of your eyes?
Well maybe only for me since I am her mommy.

Miss purgy is loving the igloo that we built for her

I was a little too scared to go in the igloo because my mother scared me as a child and said never go in or near one because I will die!
Well maybe not that harsh but she said the snow will collapse on me and I will die!

It must have been a little nicer then that but whatever she said it suck in my head and I got pretty claustrophobic in there.

Well enjoy your long weekend if you get to rest on Monday!

This weekend has been filled with and will be filled with again tonight with many games of

Werrrreee Back!

I'm so sorry that I have been M.I.A
Everyone knows with the holidays and trying to survive the blizzard of 2010 is hard stuff.
Thats right... we attempted to drive from from mass to nj in a blizzard!
No big deal... you could only see one car in front of you
there was 40-50 mph winds
and unplowed one lane highways.

Do you get the picture?
good, because I don't want to think about that again.
dont get me wrong I adore snow just not trying to rush to get home so Andrew can leave for another deployment.

I hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas time with friends and family.
we such did.

our 7 hour Christmas drive that started at 10am

My grandfather used to tell me that the Indians sprinkled powdered sugar on here to welcome me

The stocking is my favorite part! lucky me, I got 3 stockings this year!
Purgys first Christmas helping mommy out

Ice cream maker!!!

I always end up crying on Christmas, happy tears that is. This year my mother was able to make me cry by getting me the Julia Child's first cook book. Yes I would cry over a cookbook.

Andrew had a wonderful Christmas and BIRTHDAY!
Happy 27 my old man!

Now tonight's the night we get our party dress on and hang out with friends!
And the next day we try to make ourselves better people...

that being said...

Whats your new years resolution?
ps when I was little ... ok up to 3 years ago... I would by accident call it my new years revolution... thats messy

Everyone's dancing merrily In a new old fashioned way

Hey how was your weekend?
Ours was pretty eventful.
During the holiday season there is so much rushing around my body dosen't know when to stop!
It is very easy to get caught up in the holiday rush and you forget to listen to your body
here are 7 ways to stay stress free this holiday season

Laugh It Up
Unless you are Martha Stewart or you love hosting parties, invite your friends to join you at a comedy club instead. If you are a homebody, stay in and watch your favorite holiday movies, such as "When Harry Met Sally...," "Miracle on 34th Street" or "Yentl." Comedies are especially good this time of year because studies suggest that laughter reduces the level of cortisol and improves our mood through the release of endorphins.
Savor Your Senses
The holidays are filled with wonderful sights (lights, decorations), smells (scented candles, wreaths, pine trees), tastes (Christmas cookies, latkes, hot apple cider) and sounds (gospel choirs, Messiah recitals, Klezmer bands). You can also follow the Buddhist and Hindu tradition of meditation, which is one of the best ways to relax. Allow your mind to be in the moment by focusing all of your senses so you can soak in the beauty of the season.
Cut Down On Caffeine
Did you know that caffeine accentuates the stress response? It increases the heart rate, blood pressure and ultimately makes it difficult to relax, which is what we need to do when we are stressed. You might think you need that chemical jolt to get you through your "to-do" list, but instead of reaching for that extra cup of Joe or can of jitter juice, choose hot apple cider, herbal teas or a decaffeinated version of your favorite warm beverage. In fact, why not take an hour or two away from your hectic schedule to take a real English-style tea break, complete with finger sandwiches and chat-time with your friends.
Get in the Spirit
Even if you hate the holidays, let go of your inner Scrooge and go with the flow. Listen to inspiring music and sing joyful songs that can uplift your brain as well as your spirits. Put on your favorite tunes, sing out loud in your car on your way to work, or go caroling with friends and family.
Commune with Nature
Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), which causes depression due to a lack of sunlight during the winter months, can be relieved by spending time outside during the day. Go ice skating, sledding, skiing or simply take a hike in the woods. The relaxing atmosphere of nature gives your prefrontal cortex -- the area of our brain that helps you focus -- an opportunity to recharge.
End the Party at Midnight
Keeping a more regular schedule during the holidays will help you feel more relaxed and happier. Our brain performs best when we go to bed and wake up at the same time. When we disrupt this rhythm, our hormones become out of sync and we experience the equivalent of jet lag. So, with the exception of New Year's Eve, do your brain a favor and don't pull too many all-nighters.
Volunteer for a Charity
It's easy to become depressed during the holidays, so focusing on others will ultimately make you feel less stressed about your own situation. There's nothing more gratifying and uplifting than doing something for someone who is less fortunate. Volunteer at a local shelter or food pantry. Studies show that people who do humanitarian work have greater sense of well-being, happiness, health and longevity.
per
Stay healthy and stress free this holiday season!
But at the same time enjoy the family time and time off!
signing off to enjoy my unhealthy snack!

Baby Its Cold Outside...

Today Andrew got out of work 6 hours earlier then expected! What a great start to kick off the weekend! We both got unexpected checks of reimbursement today so that was a good surprise!
I am the type of busy body sometimes that just hanging out in the house feels like a waste of a day ya know?
So we bundled up and went to the park!
The first one we wernt aloud in because its hunting season.
Yeah... I woken up around 6AM to the sound of gun shots and something that sounded like duck calls but I know its deer season not duck.
But I think the sound traveled down the river and that why it sounded like it was world war 2 in our back yard.
so back to what I was saying... Yea hunting... so no enter, turned around and went to a different park.
found out that our puppy is scared of our purgo floors but yet isnt scared to walk on the half frozen water...
I will be the one to admit that women, dog or human don't make sense in their reasoning's sometimes...

well here's some lovely pics of today's adventure... no time to write tonight because we have a double date tonight for dinner in an Atlantic City Casino
( don't worry... we don't gamble unless its walking on half frozen water)

Now who here has ever ice skated outside?
how fun is that!?

Going Down Unda!?

This morning we were visited by lovely Mrs. Caitlin , still in pj's and bare face, we sat around enjoying hot morning drink chatting like little school girls. A wonderful start to my day I'd say.

So ready for some aussiemazing news?!
Well, Andrew's father is an amazing athlete and just finished the
Arizona Iron Man Race.
He got a call from the Australia Iron Man to do their race next year!

We wanted to be on his dads "pit crew" on this last one but Andrew was on deployment.
So guess what!?

next year.... December 4th... which happens to be my 24th birthday will be spent....
In AUSTRALIA!
It will be so much fun being Andrews fathers cheer team!

I called my mom and told her and guess what she did.... being a sappy mom that she is...
she cried. yes she did, but tears of joy.

Thing is, my grandfather used to go to Australia all the time and bring me back koala bear stuffed animals and shits, ever since then my dream was to see no other country but Australia.

An embarrassing picture of me showing off my new Aussie shit with my doggie

In other news...

Andrew and I have started a travel journal.
I got this idea from a lovely blog called Todays Letters in her post called
How it works is one of us writes whatever you wish to your love in this journal, something encouraging to make their day or a reminder of your love. Then hide it somewhere for them to just find randomly one day and make their day! Then they are tagged to write to you. It will be fun to keep track of Andrews little love notes in one little place.

I have a bad habit of keeping notes and letters, at my mothers house i have a box ( that I didn't want to move with) full of v-day cards, notes, love notes, and pen pal letters all starting back from 4th grade

Whats a weird thing you have held on to from your childhood?

Merry Christmas from Purgy Puppy

This is our Purgy puppy. She is one years old and we adopted her when she was 6 weeks old.
Purgy is a black lab mixed with gray hound or whippet...we think.
But i defiantly know that she is mixed with lots of love to give!
Purgy is named after a mountain in Colorado called Purgatory.
We only picked that name since it is one of our favorite places to be, the mountain not the religious term.

This is Purgy Puppys first Christmas and she is very excited! The morning that she found her stocking filled, she wanted everything from that stocking right away!
But we told her she has to wait till Christmas morning ( 4am )

Our Christmas Plan will be as followed...
Andrew works Christmas eve 8 am till 8 pm then early to bed
wake up at 4 AM Christmas morning
roll over and wish my best friend a happy 27th birthday
open the stockings from our second fireplace that is at the foot of our cozy bed
Then off to Cape Cod Mass just in time for brunch!

After 2.5 years together, this is our first real tree together.
There is a tree farm down the street from our new house.
We tagged the tree in early October
The tree farm was owned by a cute older couple that referred to us as "the couple who moved into that house for sale"

The day before my birthday we bundled up and walked down to get our tree.
The old couple remembered us and said " Emma! Happy birthday! " How cute is that?

We chopped down the tree, had it netted and off we went... on foot

That's right... we walked our tree home
our neighbor stopped and asked us if we were taking our tree for a walk. My silly lover responds with " yup we thought it needed to shed some pounds" sigh...

My "bffl" Caitlin was waiting in our house to open the door for us thank goodness.
And here we are! Our first tree!

The colored balls were Andrew's not my fav but they make a good filler
and my mother sent me a box of childhood ornaments

Some of my favorite ones on the tree. The green one is an outline of Fishers Island this is the island where I was "made" and where I spent my summers with family. The second one is a pink mailbox with 1987 knitted into it, the year I was born. The little Santa was actually my fathers growing up and my grandma gave him to my mom after they married. And the little house that says "new home 2010" that needs no explanation <3

So that's what Christmas time is like at our place
Do you have any past down ornaments on your tree?

So European....

Well attemped to be. Yesterday I paused my crazy life to watch Sydney's new tutorial on scarfs. You can watch that wonderful video right here. I tried the double knot"ish" euro style.
Miss. Purgy protecting me from the cat outside

I also enjoyed My day with three cups of berry green tea... yummm

In other news on our adventures. Andrew and I were going to drive past the Mason Dixie line in MD ( I think that's were it starts) to buy a truck! woo hoo! But now... Andrew has us going to Manhattan to get a different truck. Kinda random place to get a truck but oh well, its a good deal. ANNNNDD what a better place to spend a Saturday then in new york city near Christmas time? I will make sure my camera is charged to take many pics of this wonderful tree!

The secret of getting things done is to act.

As you all can see from the right side of my blog, I am doing a 101 things to accomplish in 1001 days.
Well, you all would be proud of me... I can proudly check a bunch off!

1. Get my own pair of skis.
The story is... I swore Andrew got me a shark steam mop for my birthday. Well once the huge package taller then me showed up at our door. (at that moment I knew I wasn't getting my shark)
Inside this box my own skis! and they were PINK! way to go Andrew!

2.  Get a new toilet & paint bathroom
I will make this one short and dirty....
have you ever had to change a toilet? yeah... word of advice... its nasssssty!
all i will say..... *poop stick*

3. keep the heat off as long as possible.
yessuri We lasted till the first week in December.
Yeah I was cold while the house was 43degrees But it was withstandable
the only thing we were worried about was the pipes freezing. but no big deal right?
so yeah after $500 we filled our oil take up.
so now the heat is on!!!!..... to 60... come on guys its better then 40's

4. Redo guest room
We took the ugly brown carpet our of the bedroom and added wood floors.
Then painted the room (greybeard)
Its our nautical room, with Andrew's coast guard stuff in there.
and a brand new comfy pillow top.
so you know what that means... y'all welcome to visit.

Really, google person?

So with Andrew working again from 730pm till 230am i get bored and I was looking at the sources my viewers come from. I had noticed one was from google... hmmmm I wonder what for because it was for my happiness is like peeing in your pants post. Well looks like that person was searching for " volunteering is like peeing in your pants" okay that person must really like it or not.... but sure enough there was my blog the first link to this persons search results... cant really call this a compliment but it deff tickled my brain.

Being a 23rdian

Who knew that the number 23 has some significance in peoples everyday life?
There is a group of people called 23rdian's. These people believe that 23rdians are a group of people who subscribe to the mystical power of 23 and see it in multiple combinations throughout daily life. I saw this from this crazy site all about the number 23
And good old wiki told me that "The 23 enigma refers to the belief that most incidents and events are directly connected to the number 23, some modification of the number 23, or a number related to the number 23"

So let me get this right? There are people out there that believe things happen in 23's? i have heard that things happen in 3's such as light bulbs (and that's always a pain, esp when your a 5'4 shorty like me)

So why did I even bother looking this up? Because good old Emma is now 23! Yup I Had my 23rd birthday this wonderful weekend. Now, am I going to worry that bad things will happen to me this year of my birth? of coarse not. I am going to think of it as This will be the BEST year ever! and nothing but GREAT things will happen to me this year!
I think this year my life is going to change around for the best!

SO... I bet your wondering how i spent my wonderful 23rdness.
is that a word? well i just made that! copyright!
(PS on a side note, Andrew always pick up that I have been putting the word ness on everything! but doesn't it describe everything and make it so much better? i thought so... thank you for agreeing with me)
ANYWAY...
Friday one of my bestest friends was my date all day. We got our hair cuts... YES! I cut my hair off! about 4 inches off but i love change.... I think.... ( eek!)
So yes, we got our hair done then I had my makeup done by CHANEL. Here are the colors they chose to go with my green eyes.

Photobucket

After we got all dolled up, Andrew took both of us to the coast guard Christmas party at the winery. That was fun and entertaining. The swimmers all dressed as elves and a group showed up in their ugly Christmas sweaters. It is always a fun event.
We then heading to Atlantic City NJ that night to meet up with everyone and keep the night rolling.

The next day I was stressing! Andrews father was coming and Andrew was going to ask his father for his blessing for us. We already have my family's and all he needed was his side of the family now. Andrew took him for a run so they could talk, they ran for 7 miles so you know I was stressed pacing back and forth. Finally they come back in and his father gave me a hug and says "congratulations!" I am dumb founded and ask what for? and he responds with, "Andrew told me you guys are going to get married!" PHEW...  that was a release of built up tension...
so much in fact he asked me why my face was red. hahaha!
SO that is ONE reason why I know this 23rd year will be completely awesome!

I would also like to thank Mrs. Kim for being an awesome friend and came over on my birthday and gave me a beautiful card and a book called " The Bible Treasure Hunt" isn't that just perfect for me?!

LOTS more news this week.... stay tuned
